Episode 33: Attack From Space

Igoo's attempt to "quietly" open the door to the villains' lair is hilarious.

This episode is set largely on the Glowing Planet of Lubonia, so we have nothing to add to our list of flora and fauna for Amzot. The aliens based there (we don't know if they are natives to the world) are bombing Amzot as a prelude to invasion, probably to loot Amzot of its resources.

The big question is: Is Lubonia in the same solar system with Amzot? In an earlier episode, we did decide that Zodan IS in the same solar system, because Zandor was able to ride there on Zok and I don't think Zok would have faster-than-light capability.

Here, they fly to Lubonia in a ship salvaged from a previous adventure, which would probably have a faster-than-light drive. But they would have done that anyways rather than using Zok, because they wanted all the Herculoids to come along.

The missiles being fired at Amzot obviously use chemical fuel to launch, but that doesn't tell us anything. A missile might launch that way, but then a faster-than-light drive might kick in after it reaches space, with the chemical rocket taking over again when it reaches Amzot and has to home in on its target.

So is Lubonia a sister planet to Amzot and Zodan? Or does it circle another star?

It's a coin flip, so unless someone else can identify some aspect of the episode that points one way or the other, I'm going to literally flip a coin. And the result places Lubonia in a different (though probably nearby) solar system. So our current summary of Amzot located two posts down from here is still current.

I find it interesting that Zandor kept a salvaged rocket ship in case it was needed. It's a reminder that he's a skilled scientist and pilot--he and his family may choose to live largely without technology, but they'll use it quite skillfully when they have to.
